FEU reclaims UAAP Cheerdance title; NU, UST hailed runners-up

The FEU Cheering Squad won the UAAP Season 86 Cheerdance Competition on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

In front of a crowd of 18,122, the champion squad performed with the theme 'Super Mario' in their routine.

The NU Pep Squad finished second, while the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe placed third in the annual cheerdance event.

FEU tallied 702.5 points, while National U had 697 points. UST had 684 points to finish third.

FEU Cheering Squad head coach Randell San Gregorio said their initial goal was to give justice to their chosen theme.

"Ang goal lang talaga namin makabuo and to give justice to Super Mario kasi last year hindi namin nabigyan ng justice si Francis M," said San Gregorio while referring to FEU's Francis Magalona-inspired performance last season.

"This year, ang mindset talaga namin was galingan lang natin then let's see what happens. Sobrang blessed namin kasi nakuha namin ulit."

(Our goal was to create a routine and give justice to Super Mario because last year, we did not give justice to 'Francis M.' This year, our mindset is to give our best then let's see what happens. We're really blessed because we got it.)

The last time FEU won the cheerdance title was in Season 84.
