Marcos sends well wishes to Pinoy athletes in Paris Olympics

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. sent well wishes to Filipino athletes who will be competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

''To the 28 of our finest athletes who shall be competing in Paris now for the glory of the Philippines. Let us wish them well and the best good luck,'' Marcos said during his third State of the Nation Address on Monday.

The Paris Olympics is set to take place from July 26 to August 11.

Marcos also said his administration would continue supporting health-enhancing sports programs.

He also mentioned that grassroots and sports-for-all programs are back in the mainstream, catering to Filipinos of all ages.

''Through these, we will also set forth our youth on the same well-established path that has taken some of our national champions and renowned athletes to sporting greatness,'' the President said.

Some of the Paris-bound Olympians are flag bearers Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio, fellow boxers Hergie Bacyadan and Aira Villegas, gymnast Carlos Yulo, rower Joanie Delgaco, and weightlifters Elreen Ando, Vanessa Sarno, and John Ceniza.
