Figure skater Skye Chua honored to represent PH in World University Winter Games
Figure skater Skye Chua said it was an honor to represent the Philippines in the recent FISU World University Winter Games in Italy.
Chua, a University of the Philippines student, competed for the country in the women's single skating event held last January 17 to 18.
"Isang karangalan," she wrote on the caption of her post last January 18.
"Ito ang kauna-unahang beses na kinatawan ko ang aking unibersidad at ang bansa natin sa isang kompetisyon. Although, I truly wish I was able to achieve my goal in this competition, it still feels surreal to be able to skate here and be able to share this performance with everyone. Now that my back is free from injury, it’s time to work harder for the coming season," she added.
Chua registered a score of 26.69 in the short program.
Only the top 24 skaters advanced to the free skating portion of the tournament.
Rion Sumiyoshi and Mone Chiba of Japan bagged the gold and silver medals, respectively, while Sofia Samodelkina of Kazakhstan copped the bronze.
