Longtime host Mara Aquino bids goodbye to MPL after four years
A staple in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines, Mara Aquino has decided it's time to step away from the scene after four years of serving as its host.
Aquino announced her exit from the league on Tuesday, saying the decision wasn't easy as MPL Philippines has been more than just a job to her but rather 'my home, my family, and my life'.
"I’ve come to realize that it’s time for me to step away. This choice was not made lightly, but in my heart, I know it’s the right one. Letting go is never easy, but I believe that growth means allowing ourselves to evolve, even when it’s uncomfortable," Aquino said in a Facebook post.
"It means embracing the unknown and having the courage to recreate ourselves when we know, deep down, that it’s time for change. And while this decision is difficult, I know in my heart that it’s time."
Aquino, who became known as host of then PBA halftime quiz show, entered the MPL back in Season 7 and even brought her act to international stage by hosting the M3 World Championship in Singapore in 2021.
Since then, Aquino became a regular fixture in both local and international scenes.
In MPL Philippines Season 12 in 2023, Aquino was hailed as the Best Filipino Talent for the first time.
"For almost four years, I have had the privilege of standing on that stage, watching dreams come true and feeling the heartbreak of those who fell short. I have announced champions, seen tears of joy and disappointment, and shared moments that will forever be part of esports history," Aquino added.
"Together, we have celebrated victories and endured painful losses. Every moment we’ve shared means the world to me and I will carry it with me always."
Meanwhile, MPL Philippines also penned a heartfelt goodbye to Aquino as both camps move to a different chapter starting with Season 15 next month.
"From the stage lights to the roaring arenas, Mara Aquino has been more than just a presence—she has been the voice of MPL Philippines," the league said.
"Through epic moments, unforgettable matches, and countless post-game interviews, she made sure that every player, every fan, and every game had its story told. Her presence didn’t just add excitement—it made the MPL stage feel like home."
