Alex Eala reaches career-high no. 73 in world rankings

Alex Eala vs Jessica Pegula at the Miami Open semis

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala reached a new career-high in the world rankings as she jumped two places to no. 73 in the latest WTA rankings released on Monday (Philippine time).

Just a week ago, Eala jumped to no. 75 from no. 140 after her dream run in the Miami Open where she defeated Grand Slam champions in Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Swiatek. However, she fell to Jessica Pegula in the semifinals.

According to the WTA, "A player's ranking is determined by results at a maximum of 18 tournaments for singles and 12 for doubles. Points are awarded based on the level of tournament and a player's round-by-round progression at that tournament."
