In her new role, Cojuangco-Jaworski will "oversee the planning and delivery of the Olympic Games Brisbane 2032" as she works with the organizing committee, the Olympic stakeholders, local authorities, and sports federations.
"Her role will be to ensure that all aspects of the project are developed and executed to the highest standards, creating an inclusive, sustainable and memorable Olympic experience for athletes, fans and communities alike," the IOC said in its website.
Cojuangco-Jaworski's contacts in Australia, where she trained for 20 years as an equestrian, is expected to be of big help to her new role.
Cojuangco-Jaworski won the Asian Games gold in 2002 and she has been a member of the IOC since 2013. She has been a part of the IOC's executive board since 2020.
The Philippines, meanwhile, has been on a roll in the recent editions of the Summer Games. Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the country's first gold in 2021 in Tokyo, while gymnast Carlos Yulo won two golds in Paris last year. All these, on top of boxing's podium finishes in the said editions of the Olympics.
