Alex Eala at the Eastbourne Open

Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala will compete in the finals of the Eastbourne Open on Saturday.

This is Eala's first finals appearance WTA Tour level tournament, and the first for a Filipino as well.

Qualifying draw:

• First round: Eala def. Zeynep Sonmez, 6-1, 6-3
• Second round: Eala def. Hailey Baptiste, 6(1)-7, 7-6(4), 6-1

Main draw:

• First round: Eala def. Lucia Bronzetti, 6-0, 6-1
• Second round: Eala def. Jelena Ostapenko via walkover
• Quarterfinals: Eala def. Dayana Yastremska, 6-1, 6-2
• Semifinals: Eala def. Varvara Gracheva, 7-5, 6-2, 6-3.

Eala will compete in the finals on Saturday against Maya Joint of Australia.
