Ersu Sasma, Thibaut Collet, Ben Broeders, Piotr Lisek, Oleg Zernikel join World Pole Vault Challenge in PH

Five more top-ranked pole vaulters from around the world are set to compete in the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge on September 21 in Makati City.

Previously, Menno Vloon (Netherlands), Austin Miller (USA), and Matt Ludwig (USA) were announced as part of the lineup, joining EJ Obiena of the Philippines in the highly anticipated event.

On Friday, the Ayala Corporation released five additional names who will join the tournament: Ersu Sasma (Turkey), Thibaut Collet (France), Ben Broeders (Belgium), Piotr Lisek (Poland), and Oleg Zernikel (Germany).

Sasma, currently ranked world no. 5, bagged the bronze medal at the European Championships in Rome last year.

Collet is currently ranked no. 12, while Broeders holds the no. 13 spot in the world rankings.

Lisek, ranked no. 15, previously won silver at the 2017 World Championships, along with bronze medals in the 2015 and 2019 editions of the tournament.

Zernikel, ranked no. 16, also secured a bronze medal at last year’s European Championships.
