According to the WTA website, the WTA 125 series, which includes the Guadalajara 125, Jingshan Tennis Open, and the Suzhou WTA 125 "offers both established WTA players and talented newcomers the ability to build their careers and progress up to the highest levels of the WTA Tour."
The higher tiers of the WTA Tour are the WTA 250, WTA 500, and WTA 1000 events, with the numbers indicating the ranking points awarded to the champions. At the very top are the Grand Slams, the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, which award 2,000 ranking points to the winners.
