Kristen Ambriel Aguila captured a silver medal in taekwondo at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain, on Thursday.

The 15-year-old Aguila narrowly fell short against Iran’s Zeinab Shahriari, 8.86–8.80, in the gold medal match.

Earlier, Aguila edged Yuqi Li of China, 8.52–8.51, in the semifinals.

The Philippines also had a bronze from Crystal Carino and Nicole Tabucol as they defeated the hometown bet in the teqball girls doubles 10-12, 12-10, 14-12.

Cariño is 15 while Tabucol is 17 years old.

“Ang expectations ko po wala po kaming makukuha kasi alam ko po malalakas ‘yung mga kalaban. Pero mayroon po pala kaming makukuha,” said Tabucol.

The Philippines now has three medals in this year's meet, following the gold medal from pencak silat's Kram Airam Carpio.
