SEA Games: Sibol Women dethrone Indonesia to reach Mobile Legends finals
The Philippines is in contention for a double gold in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang after Sibol Women dethroned Indonesia, 3-1, in their 2025 SEA Games semifinals clash on Tuesday in Thailand.
The women’s team now joins their male counterparts, who swept the group stage and then defeated Indonesia 3-1 to secure their spot in the finals.
The win also allowed Sibol Women to avenge their heartbreak in the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, where they absorbed a 3-2 loss to the same country in the gold medal round.
Exp laner Gwyneth Diagon proved crucial in Game 2 after unleashing six kills and nine assists on Yu Zhong to help the Filipinas clinch the match point at 2-0.
But Indonesia flaunted its championship poise in the next game to remain in contention and drag the Philippines to a Game 4 showdown behind roamer Vivi Indrawaty masterful use of Gatotkaca.
The Filipinas then made sure not to bring the clash into a decider, picking off two enemy heroes during a pivotal Lord dance at the 20th minute before midlaner Rica Fatima Amores (Gatotkaca) led the tower push.
They will now turn their focus on Malaysia, who stands in the way of their gold medal aspirations as the powerhouse teams slug it out in the finale set on Wednesday.
