Swimmer Riley Alindogan claims fifth gold in 2026 Palarong Pambansa

AGUSAN DEL SUR — Riley Alindogan became the most bemedalled athlete so far in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa, claiming her fifth gold medal on Wednesday in the elementary girls' swimming competition.

The Region V representative ruled both the 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley in the elementary girls' division to increase her gold medal haul.

Alindogan clocked 2:17.97 in the 200m freestyle while recording 2:35.34 in the 200m individual medley to claim her fourth and fifth gold on Wednesday at the Aquatic Center of the Datu Lipus Makapandong Governor D.O. Sports Complex in Prosperidad.

In addition to these, Alindogan also won the 400m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, and 4x50m medley relay during the opening-day on Tuesday.

Alindogan could have collected a sixth gold medal, but she settled for silver in the 50m breaststroke after Meadow Harrison unleashed a record-breaking time of 35.80 seconds to clinch the title.

Harrison broke Krystal Ava David's 2023 record of 36.51 seconds.
