Alex Eala, Venus Williams to team up in Bad Homburg Open doubles — report

Alexandra “Alex” Eala and tennis icon Venus Williams are set to team up in the doubles draw of the Bad Homburg Open, according to a report by Tennis Channel.

“Venus, however, is on the entry list for the Bad Homburg event in advance of Wimbledon with Alex Eala,” the report said.

Eala and Williams, along with Germany's Eva Lys, have also received main draw wildcards for the singles competition of the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany.

The partnership would mark a rare opportunity for the 20-year-old Filipina to share the court with the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion. Previously, Eala and Iva Jovic defeated Venus Williams and Elina Svitolina in the ASB Classic Round of 16 last January.

Meanwhile, Eala opens her grass-court season on Monday at the WTA 125 Birmingham Open, where she is scheduled to compete in doubles alongside Czech player Nikola Bartunkova.
