Alex Eala, Venus Williams begin Bad Homburg Open doubles campaign

Alexandra “Alex” Eala and tennis legend Venus Williams will begin their doubles campaign at the Bad Homburg Open on Wednesday night (Philippine time).

Eala and Williams are set to face the American-Australian tandem of Catherine Harrison and Alexandra Osborne, who are ranked No. 142 and No. 143 in the WTA doubles rankings, respectively.

The match will mark the first time Eala and Williams team up on the same side of the court, although it will not be their first encounter involving each other.

Back in January, Eala and then-partner Iva Jovic defeated Williams and Elina Svitolina in the doubles competition of the ASB Classic, 7(9)-6(7), 6-1.

Eala is coming off a first-round exit in the singles draw of the Bad Homburg Open after falling to Elise Mertens.
