Alex Eala to face Jasmine Paolini in Wimbledon Round of 16

Alexandra "Alex" Eala will face Jasmine Paolini in the Wimbledon Round of 16 after stunning Iga Swiatek in the third round of the grass-court Grand Slam.

Eala is coming off one of the biggest wins of her career after dethroning defending champion Swiatek, 7(11)-6(9), 6-2, to book her place in the Round of 16.

Paolini, 30, is currently ranked world No. 17 and advanced with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over Maria Sakkari in the third round.

The upcoming match will be the second singles meeting between Eala and Paolini. Their first came in the Round of 32 of the Dubai Tennis Championships, where the Filipina prevailed, 6-1, 7(7)-6(5).

The winner of the Eala-Paolini match will advance to the quarterfinals, where she will face either Marta Kostyuk or Ashlyn Krueger.
