V-League: Alyssa Valdez named MVP, best outsider hitter

For the second conference, Ateneo de Manila University team captain Alyssa Valdez bagged the Most Valuable Player award in the Shakey's V-League on Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Valdez, who was named MVP in the Open Conference last May, once again received the most coveted individual award in the Collegiate Conference in addition to the Best Outside Hitter honors.

The trophies were awarded after the Lady Eagles won Game One of the finals series against the Lady Bulldogs, 25-19, 25-13, 25-21.

Other special awardees were University of Santo Tomas' EJ Laure, who was hailed as the second Best Outside Hitter, while Far Eastern University guest player Jovelyn Gonzaga won the Best Opposite Spiker distinction.

National University's Jaja Santiago and Ateneo's Bea De Leon ruled as the Best Middle Blockers of the tournament.

Lady Bulldogs libero Bia General and Lady Eagles' setter Gizzelle Tan were also named as Best Libero and Best Setter, respectively. - RAF, GMA News
