UAAP: UST Growling Tigresses shock DLSU Lady Spikers

The UST Growling Tigresses secured their biggest win of the first round, shocking the DLSU Lady Spikers,  25-21 25-22 25-21, on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

With the loss, La Salle failed to tie Ateneo atop the standings, sinking to solo second at 5-2. Ateneo remains ahead at 6-1.

In the other women's match, the UP Lady Maroons secure another crucial win, sweeping the NU Lady Bulldogs, 25-19 25-21 25-20.

The Diliman-based squad relied on the three-pronged attack of team captain Kath Bersola, Nicole Tiamzon and Diana Carlos. The trio combined for 38 points, while Marian Buitre added nine more.

Jorelle Singh was the only Lady Bulldog to score in double figures with 16, as Myla Pablo and Jaja Santiago combined for just seven markers. Jasmine Nabor, meanwhile, contributed six markers.

With the win, UP tied FEU at third place with an identical 4-3 win-loss card. NU, meanwhile, dropped to 3-4 to tie Adamson and UST.
