Cignal HD Spikers bring Araneta, Cayuna, General into fold

The Cignal HD Spikers have started to pile up talent ahead of the new season of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The squad on Saturday announced that it had reached agreements to sign opposite hitter Angeli Araneta, setter Gel Cayuna, and libero Bia General to boost its campaign come the new tournament.

Cignal, which is being bannered by veterans Rachel Anne Daquis, Roselyn Doria, and Jheck Dionela, had a subpar outing in the previous PVL season where it finished dead last among 10 teams.

They wrapped up the bubble season with an unusual 1-8 win-loss card to miss out on the semifinal round.

Among the three new faces, Araneta will be coming in with the most experience after having played for the Generika-Ayala in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) for years.

General was also part of the Generika-Ayala team but both of them were not able to see action this year after their new team, Unlimited Athletes Club (UAC), withdrew from the PVL tourney.

Cayuna, meanwhile, served as the setter for Perlas Spikers  in the previous PVL contest. Her team, however, finished second to the last also with a 1-8 card.

The three players could be crucial for Cignal, especially after the team was invited to compete in the Champions League being penciled by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) later this year.
