Jaja Santiago, Ageo Medics notch back-to-back wins; Bagunas' Oita Miyoshi ends drought
A pair of Filipino volleyball spikers and their respective clubs scored wins on Saturday in the 2021 Japan V. League.
Jaja Santiago and the Ageo Medics escaped Denso Airybees in four sets, 25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 25-22, to follow up their bounce back victory over Hisamitsu last November 7.
Santiago finished with 17 points off 14 attacks and three blocks while Yuka Sato had 17 markers as well.
The win improved Ageo's standing to 5-4 but they will have to regroup quickly as they will face the same team on Sunday, November 21, at 12 p.m.
Meanwhile, another Philippine bet in Bryan Bagunas and his Oita Miyoshi have finally ended their seven-game slide with a thrilling five-set triumph of JTEKT Stings, 25-23, 11-25, 12-25, 25-22, 15-13.
Bagunas, a Philippine national team mainstay, finally found his rhythm back, nailing 23 points anchored on 19 attacks, three blocks, and one service ace.
Oita now rose to 2-7, grabbing their first win for the first time since opening the season with a four-set victory over the Sakai Blazers last October 16.
Oita will hope to build on this momentum when it returns to action on Sunday against JTEKT.
