Marck Espejo, FC Tokyo spoil Bryan Bagunas' 22-point explosion, fend off Oita Miyoshi
Filipino import Marck Espejo and his FC Tokyo have snapped their four-game losing streak in the Japan V. League.
FC Tokyo, whose last win came January 16, fended off Oita Miyoshi in four sets, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17, on Saturday at the Sumida Ward General Gymnasium and improved to 7-16 in the team standings.
Espejo was pivotal in the victory, converting 15 of his 33 attack attempts while also finishing with one service ace while Jonas Kvaren poured in 18 markers.
Espejo's win, though, spoiled yet another huge performance from compatriot Bryan Bagunas, who unleashed 22 points anchored on 18 attacks, two blocks, and one ace as Oita absorbed its second loss in a row to drop to 5-18.
This is the third time that Espejo and Bagunas' squads were facing each other after they met in early November with FC Tokyo sweeping its weekend clash against Oita.
