Jaja Santiago, Saitama bounce back vs Toray Arrows; Bryan Bagunas' Oita Miyoshi continues struggle

Jaja Santiago and the Saitama Ageo Medics momentarily lost steam in third and fourth sets but still managed to complete a 25-19, 25-17, 22-25, 16-25, 15-11 victory over Toray Arrows in the Japan V.League on Saturday.

The Filipina import was effective on both ends, dropping 12 points on seven attacks, four blocks, and a service ace as Ageo Medics recovered from Wednesday's loss to the NEC Red Rockets to improve to 12-8.

But it was Brazilian Tisheira Lorenne who provided the spark for Saitama after the 6-foot-1 opposite hitter exploded for 27 markers anchored on 23 attacks to go along with three aces and one block.

Mami Uchiseto added 16 points while Yuka Sato chimed in 10 markers in the win.

Meanwhile, Bryan Bagunas and Oita Miyoshi could not get out of slump as they fell to the JTEKT Stings in straight sets, 25-15, 25-20, 25-18, at home at the Showa Denko Martial Arts Sports Center.

Bagunas, whose team hasn't won since January 29, registered 16 points in the loss while Emerson Rodriguez chipped in 11 markers as they slid to 5-22 behind a six-game losing skid.

Another Filipino reinforcement in Marck Espejo and his FC Tokyo team were supposed to see action today but their game was cancelled, making it a three-straight shelved match for the club.
