Jaja Santiago drops 13 as Ageo Medics routs Himeji for third win in a row


Jaja Santiago and the Saitama Ageo Medics stretched their winning streak to three after turning back Victorina Himeji in four sets, 16-25, 25-19, 29-27, 25-17, in the Japan V. League on Saturday.

The towering Filipina import finished with 13 points on 11 attacks and two aces while Tisheira Lorenne ignited for 22 markers built on 18 attacks and four blocks as Ageo Medics improved to 19-13 while Himeji slid to 8-24.

Aside from the Santiago-Lorenne duo, also instrumental in the victory were Mami Uchiseto who carved out 15 markers while Momoka Niida had 13-point output. Ageo was coming off  wins over Okayama Seagulls and Toray Arrows.

Leading Himeji was Saki Tanaka who exploded for 26 points but her outburst went down the drain as they now sit at the 11th spot in the 12-team field.

The two teams will face anew on Sunday with Santiago's team eyeing to make it four consecutive wins.

Meanwhile, Marck Espejo and the FC Tokyo were supposed to tangle with JT Hiroshima but the game was cancelled.
