By BEA MICALLER, GMA News
Two Philippine women's beach volleyball teams swept their respective foes to boost their shot at podium finish in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Monday in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The power duo of Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons outhustled the Malaysian tandem of Farwizah Aina Ahmad Nizar and Maegan Jia Yin Beh in a sweeping fashion, 21-11, 21-9 to pick up their second win in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Jovelyn Gonzaga and Dij Rodriguez also swept their Malaysian opponents Sing Yee Sin and Sin Xi Foo in straight sets, 21-14, 21-9.
The two pairs are eyeing to match or even surpass the bronze medal finish of the Philippines in the 2019 edition of the regional meet.
