Germany refused to play China in Volleyball Nations League despite COVID-19 clearance, says PNVF

The match between Germany and China in the Volleyball Nations League held in the Philippines has been cancelled.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation announced the development on Thursday.

"Germany refused to play against China even though Chinese athletes were cleared by local authorities after testing positive for COVID-19," the PNVF said in a statement.

"In accordance with VNL 2022 Competition Regulations, Germany automatically forfeits the match, giving China a 3-0 win."

Ticket holders may opt to watch the 7 p.m. match between Argentina and Slovenia later today.

The men's volleyball matches will be played until June 26 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
