Mika Reyes stars as PLDT sweeps Chery Tiggo; Creamline downs rival Petro Gazz
Mika Reyes took over to steer PLDT Home Fibr past shorthanded Chery Tiggo in straight sets, 25-18, 25-19, 25-14, to begin its campaign in the 2022 PVL Invitational Conference on Tuesday.
The towering middle blocker starred with 15 points built on 12 attacks and three blocks as the Power Hitters notched its first win of the season. Chery Tiggo, meanwhile, slid to 0-2 hole after an opening day loss to Choco Mucho last Saturday.
Toni Basas and Juls Samonte were also key cogs for the rejuvenated PLDT with the former FEU Lady Tamaraw chipping in 14 points. Samonte chimed in with 11 markers to help the cause. No player from the side of the Crossovers reached a double-digit outing as lefty opposite hitter Mylene Paat poured in a team-high nine points to go along with 10 digs.
Meanwhile, Creamline survived Petro Gazz in four sets, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, to bag its maiden win of the season.
In the rematch of the 2022 PVL Open Conference, Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza led after drilling 18 and 17 points, respectively. Galanza also made her presence felt on the defense with 14 digs as Alyssa Valdez had an off-night, producing just eight markers.
