Shaq Delos Santos is the new head coach of UP women's volleyball team

Shaq Delos Santos will now call the shots for the University of the Philippines women's volleyball team.

The Lady Maroons on Monday announced the hiring of Delos Santos as the new head coach of the squad.

"The UP Women's Volleyball Team would like to welcome Coach Shaq Delos Santos as our new head coach! Coach Shaq has coached numerous teams, collegiate and professional and was also a national player himself," the caption of the team's post read.

"We believe in you Coach and can't wait to see what you have in store for the team," the team added.

The announcement was made a day after Delos Santos steered the Cignal HD Spikers to a bronze medal finish in the 2022 PVL Invitational Conference.

Delos Santos, a former coach of the women's national team, last coached Far Eastern University in the UAAP in 2017. He will replace Godfrey Okumu, who led the Lady Maroons to a 5-9 finish in Season 84.
