Chery Tiggo grabs solo lead, Choco Mucho notches second win after back-to-back 5-setters

The Chery Tiggo Crossovers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans survived similar five-set thrillers on Thursday in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The Crossovers defeated the Akari Chargers, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 15-6, to hold the top spot with three wins.

Mylene Paat led Chery with 19 points anchored on 17 attacks and two blocks, while Cza Carandang tossed in 18 points. Reinforcement Jelena Cvijovic had 16 points, while EJ Laure made 14 points in the Crossovers' win.

Meanwhile, Choco Mucho registered their second win at the expense of the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-27, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 17-15.

Import Odina Aliyeva tallied 30 points off 27 attacks and three blocks, while Kat Tolentino made 16 points for the Flying Titans' win to improve their record to 2-1.

PVL action will return on Saturday in Laguna where the Petro Gazz Angels will face Akari, while Creamline will go against Cignal HD. The winners of Thursday's matches will meet on Tuesday.
