Creamline nears semis spot with sweep of Army; PLDT cruises to 4th win

Creamline moved on the cusp of a semifinals seat in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference after sweeping Army even with a depleted roster, 25-15, 25-20, 25-12, on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.

The Cool Smashers improved to 5-1 while sending the luckless Army to the brink of elimination as the Lady Troopers remained winless at 0-5.

Tots Carlos made sure to step up for Creamline, which was missing Jema Galanza and the still recovering Alyssa Valdez. The former UP standout finished with 17 points built on 14 attacks, two service aces, and one block while Michele Gumabao chipped in 11 markers in the process.

Rosemarie Vargas started for the Cool Smashers in lieu of Galanza and listed seven points alongside six digs and four receptions.

Army, on the other hand, banked on veteran Honey Royse Tubino who registered 12 points in the loss.

Meanwhile, surging PLDT cruised to its fourth straight victory after hacking out a 25-14, 21-25, 25-12, 25-15 triumph over Akari behind strong showings from Mich Morente, Dell Palomata, and Mika Reyes.

Morente has been consistent for the High Speed Hitters, collecting 14 points this time around while the towering duo of Palomata and Reyes chimed in with 13 and 10 markers apiece.

PLDT improved to 4-1 to forge a two-way tie at the second spot with F2 Logistics while Akari slipped to 1-4.
