La Salle repeats over NU in RDJ return; Adamson snaps UST streak
De La Salle University welcomed the return of head coach Ramil de Jesus with another win against National University, 26-24, 26-24, 25-16, on Saturday on the opening day of UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball second round at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Angel Canino had 15 points while Jolina dela Cruz had 12 points in the win of the Taft-based squad, while Michaela Belen and Evangeline Alinsug had 17 and 14 points apiece for the defending champs.
The win handed the Lady Spikers its eighth straight victory and maintained their perfect record since the season opened while NU went down to 5-3.
Earlier, Adamson University snapped University of Santo Tomas' three-game winning streak after a 11-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22 victory to improve to 6-2. UST, on the other hand, fell to 5-3.
In the other games, Ateneo de Manila University (3-5) kept University of the East winless, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19, while Far Eastern University (4-4) defeated University of the Philippines (1-8) in straight sets, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20.
UAAP action will return on Wednesday with UE going against UST and FEU taking on La Salle.
