La Salle books second straight Finals appearance with take down of UST

De La Salle University booked a slot in the UAAP women's volleyball finals for the second straight time after taking down a gutsy University of Santo Tomas squad, 26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 in the Season 85 Final Four on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

With the win, the Lady Spikers were also able to exact revenge against the Golden Tigresses, who dealt them their only loss in the elimination round back in April 2.

UST led by as much as nine, 19-10, in the third set, before the Taft-based squad cut their deficit to 22-20. Eventually, the Tigresses regained control and took the third set.

In Set 4, La Salle had the upper hand by the second technical timeout, 16-12, before they eventually secured the win.

The Taft-based squad will now have to wait for the winner of the Final Four matchup between twice-to-beat National University and league no. 3 Adamson University.
