Benilde's Mycah Go, Gayle Pascual; rookie MVPs Bella Belen, Angel Canino named as top Collegiate Volleyball Players

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's Mycah Go and Gayle Pascual are among the Collegiate Press Corps' Volleyball Players of the Year which will be awarded on Monday in the Collegiate Press Corps Awards Night.

Go was the Most Valuable Player of NCAA Season 97, while Pascual was crucial in Go's absence as the Lady Blazers defended their title in Season 98, which earned them the NCAA Collegiate Volleyball Players recognition for the past two athletic seasons.

In both seasons, the Taft-based squad showed dominance as it swept their games en route to the championship.

Meanwhile, rookies Bella Belen of National University and Angel Canino of De La Salle University will take the UAAP Collegiate Volleyball Players awards for Seasons 84 and 85, respectively.

Season 84 MVP Belen made history as the UAAP's first rookie-MVP as the Lady Bulldogs swept the tournament to end their 60-year title drought. Season 85 MVP Canino, meanwhile, showed her strength as the Lady Spikers reclaimed the title at the expense of National U.

The four volleyball players join the basketball mythical teams of the past three athletic seasons, Coaches of the Year, and the Collegiate Basketball Player of the Year as honorees in the Awards Night which will be held at The Hummingbird Rooftop Bar.

The event is presented by San Miguel Corporation and the Philippine Sports Commission, with MNL Kingpin, Tinapayan Festival, and Jockey as minor sponsors. It is also supported by Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Appliances, and Handyman.
