Creamline completes sweep to semis at Akari's expense; Choco Mucho outlasts Petro Gazz
The Creamline Cool Smashers completed a sweep of their pool stage matches after taking down the Akari Chargers, 25-19, 24-26, 26-24, 25-19, on Saturday in the PVL Invitational Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Jema Galanza registered 16 points with 13 attacks while Tots Carlos posted 14 points as the Cool Smashers claimed their fourth straight win of the conference and assured them of a slot in the semifinals.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat had 18 points as the Chargers fell to 0-3.
Meanwhile, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans outlasted the Petro Gazz Angels, 25-22, 25-15, 22-25, 18-25, 15-10.
Sisi Rondina led the Flying Titans with 29 points, while Cherry Nunag had 13 points. Des Cheng and Caitlyn Viray registered 12 points apiece as Choco Mucho boosted its semis bid after improving to 3-1.
Jonah Sabete had 16 points, while Grethcel Soltones added 15 points as Petro Gazz went down to 3-2.
PVL action will return on Tuesday for the final day of the elimination round as Gerflor goes against Akari, while F2 faces Foton in the first two games. Choco Mucho will play Cignal at 4 pm, while Chery will battle PLDT afterwards.
