Ateneo downs Adamson to cap season on high note

Ateneo de Manila University swept Adamson University, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21, to cap its run in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on a high note on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Lyann De Guzman, who is not yet decided about her future with Ateneo, top-scored the Blue Eagles with 14 points, while Sobe Buena had eight points.

“I’m so happy because this is our last match and the team played very well,” said Ateneo head coach Sergio Veloso. “We cannot progress further, but we maintained our position in fifth place, which is better than last year."

Roma Mae Doromal had nine excellent digs and six excellent receptions as she played her last game for the Katipunan-based squad.

No Lady Falcon scored five or more points as Barbie Jamili, Sharya Ancheta, May Ann Nuique, Rochelle Lalongisip, and Red Bascon chipped in four points apiece.

Ateneo finished with five wins and nine losses in its first season under Veloso. Adamson, also under new head coach JP Yude, capped the season at 3-11.
