Petro Gazz clinches top spot; Akari, Cignal cap campaigns with wins

The Petro Gazz Angels clinched the top spot at the end of the elimination round of the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference after beating the Nxled Chameleons, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22, on Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The Angels' win put them on top with nine wins and two losses, tied with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. However, Petro Gazz finished with 28 points, while Choco Mucho had 26 points.

Brooke Van Sickle finished with 26 points from 22 attacks and four blocks for Petro Gazz, while Ivy Lacsina had 28 points for Nxled which ended with a 4-7 card.

The Akari Chargers and Cignal HD Spikers, meanwhile, ended their campaigns in the conference on a high note as they swept their respective opponents.

Akari (5-6) defeated the Strong Group Athletics (0-11), 25-8, 25-15, 25-16, while Cignal (7-4) swept the Capital1 Solar Spikers (1-10), 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.

The round robin semifinals will commence on Tuesday.
