PBA: June Mar Fajardo posts double-double as San Miguel survives do-or-die vs. Terrafirma
San Miguel got its title retention bid back on track after surviving Terrafirma in their do-or-die quarterfinals tussle, 110-91, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
June Mar Fajardo stood out with a huge double-double of 25 points and 22 rebounds as the Beermen cannot be denied this time around, clinching a semifinals berth after a disappointing loss in Game 1 to the Dyip.
San Miguel flipped the switch in the second half, turning a 45-44 halftime lead to a 13-point cushion to end the penultimate frame, 79-66, with Fajardo pouring in 10 of his overall output.
The Beermen never looked back since then to punch their semifinals ticket.
Terrence Romeo and Don Trollano led the bench barrage with 19 and 18 points apiece while CJ Perez also chipped in 18 markers.
Terrafirma, despite falling short of its potential first semifinals appearance, still got huge outings from rookie Stephen Holt and veteran guard Juami Tiongson, who both put together 18 points while Javi Gomez de Liaño top-scored with 23 markers off the bench.
San Miguel will face the winner of the quarterfinals series between Rain or Shine and TNT.
