AVC Challenge Cup

What makes this Alas Pilipinas squad special, according to Faith Nisperos

Faith Nisperos is not new to playing in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women.

Last year, she also donned the national colors in the same tournament where the Philippines finished seventh.

"I do everything naman with every chance na I can get, kaya nung pinasok ako, [all] I can think is para sa teammates ko, para sa coaches ko, para sa bayan, lalaban ako," Nisperos said as she played her first game in the AVC Challenge Cup on Saturday where Alas won against Iran.

(I do everything with every chance I can get, that's why when I was tapped to play, all I can think is this is for my teammates, my coaches, and for the country. I will fight.)

Nisperos, however, said this squad composed of young players is also special, especially under the leadership of team captain Jia De Guzman.

"This is a great mix of veterans and young blood and I think isa din na malaking bagay si Ate Jia, a very natural leader, a very good setter po talaga. With the leadership na binibigay ng seniors, together with Ate Dawn [Catindig], talagang nadadala po kami mga young guns," she added.

(This is a great mix of veterans and young blood, and I think Ate Jia is a big factor because she is a natural leader and a very good setter. With the leadership that the seniors have, together with Ate Dawn, they bring us along.)
