Jorge de Brito to stay as Alas Pilipinas coach until 2025 SEA Games

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) on Friday announced that Jorge De Brito is staying put as the Alas Pilipinas Women head coach until late next year.

The Brazilian tactician, who was supposed to be on his way for another tour of duty in Chinese Taipei, will be at the helm until the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in December next year.

“After careful thoughts, consideration and consultation with the PNVF board, I would like to officially announce that we would like to retain Coach Jorge until the SEA Games 2025,” said PNVF president Ramon 'Tats' Suzara.

“There are so many events up ahead for Alas Pilipinas so let’s continue supporting the team and the program."

PNVF's decision came just days after Alas Pilipinas captured a momentous bronze medal in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup, where de Brito guided the core led by Jia De Guzman, Dawn Macandili-Catindig, Angel Canino, Eya Laure, and Sisi Rondina to its highest AVC finish in history.

PNVF previously said it intended to appeal De Brito's status as his contract, which was under the FIVB’s Empowerment Program, was supposed to reach its expiration on June 30

For his part, De Brito shared he also wanted to stay, given the potential of Alas Pilipinas, which will see action in the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup next month.
