Cha Cruz-Behag joins Petro Gazz coaching staff

Cha Cruz-Behag is returning to the volleyball scene, but in a different capacity as she joined Petro Gazz as an assistant coach ahead of the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference this month.

The Angels announced Cruz-Behag's arrival as the former volleyball star looks to bolster the sidelines led by Japanese head coach Koji Tsuzurabara.

Cruz-Behag last suited up for the F2 Logistics before the squad's departure from the PVL in December 2023, joining the likes of her fellow De La Salle University products Aby Maraño, Kim Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, Kim Fajardo, and Ara Galang.

All of these players have found their new homes with Maraño and Galang joining Chery Tiggo while Dy, Baron, and Fajardo all jumped ship to PLDT.

But Cruz-Behag has decided to wear a different hat and agree as one of the Angels' deputies.

Cruz-Behag will join a decorated club that has won two Reinforced Conference titles in the past after the Angels ruled the 2019 and 2022 editions. In the previous All-Filipino Conference, Petro Gazz made it all the way to the Final Four but was unable to reach the finals due to a 1-2 card in the single round semifinals round.

Along with Tsuzurabara, Cruz-Behag is tipped to oversee the likes of wing spikers Jonah Sabete, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, and Mich Morente.
