Petro Gazz extends hot streak to seven, keeps Capital1 searching for win no. 2
Petro Gazz never took its foot off the gas as it dismantled the struggling Capital1 in straight sets, 25-19, 25-18, 25-9, to extend its winning streak to seven in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
The Angels have improved to 8-1, solidifying their hold of the second spot while the Solar Spikers dropped to 1-9.
Capital1 did put up a fight in the opening set, unleashing three straight points to turn a 23-16 deficit to just a four-point disadvantage. But Petro Gazz' veteran setter Djanel Cheng went for a one-two attack before Brooke Van Sickle finished it off with a kill from the left wing, 25-19.
The wards of head coach Roger Gorayeb kept it close early in the second, not until Angels went for a rampage that now saw Petro Gazz enjoying a 19-13 cushion en route to a 2-0 set lead.
Petro Gazz just dominated the third set, only allowing Capital1 to convert nine points as the surging Angels continued their onslaught.
Myla Pablo put together 14 points anchored on 12 attacks, one block, and one ace while Van Sickle strung together 13 markers together with nine digs and three receptions.
