La Salle sweeps UE for third straight win; UST downs Ateneo in UAAP women's volleyball
De La Salle University swept the University of the East, 25-22, 25-13, 25-23, for its third straight win in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Angel Canino had 16 points from 12 attacks, three blocks, and an ace, while Shevana Laput had 14 points as the Lady Spikers improved to 8-3.
“Hindi ko masasabing ito na 'yung peak namin, pero at the same time, merong mga nalalabas kasing skills namin, merong nalalabas na bago sa’min. Hindi pa ‘to yung peak talaga, hindi ko masasabing ito na 'yung peak talaga kasi we believe na meron pa kaming more na malalabas,” said Canino.
Nessa Bangayan had 13 points, while KC Cepada had 11 points as the Lady Warriors remained winless in 11 games.
Earlier, the University of Santo Tomas took down Ateneo de Manila University, 25-15, 26-24, 26-24.
Angge Poyos led the Golden Tigresses with 16 points while Marga Altea and Reg Jurado had 10 points apiece.
AC Miner had 13 points, while Lyann de Guzman added 12 points for the Blue Eagles.
UST improved to 7-4, while Ateneo slipped to 4-7.
