Shaq Delos Santos back as UST Golden Tigresses head coach

A familiar face is returning in España.

Shaq Delos Santos, the last tactician to lead UST to a UAAP women’s volleyball title, is making a comeback as the Golden Tigresses head coach starting in UAAP Season 88.

Delos Santos replaces longtime coach Kungfu Reyes at the helm as UST hopes to finally break its title drought.

Reyes, though, will not leave as he will remain as the the program director for both the girls and women’s volleyball teams of UST.

Delos Santos is a decorated volleyball mentor who once led UST to the promised land back in 2010 when the school ruled Season 72 behind future volleyball stars Angeli Tabaquero, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, and Maru Banaticla.

He now returns in bid to repeat the feat 15 years later.

Delos Santos, who had been serving as part of Reyes’ coaching staff prior to the new assignment, will inherit a solid core led by libero Detdet Pepito alongside Angge Poyos, Regine Jurado, and Cassie Carballo.

UST finished third in the previous season after losing to De La Salle University in the Final Four stage.
