Farm Fresh clinches breakthrough win in PVL On Tour with upset vs. Choco Mucho

PVL On Tour: Farm Fresh Foxies

Farm Fresh fought off some late resistance from Choco Mucho to complete a 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24 come-from-behind upset victory in the PVL On Tour on Saturday in Iligan City.

The Foxies recovered from a Set 1 hiccup and flaunted their prowess in the succeeding set, including a late fightback in the fourth set, to finally barge into the win column with a 1-1 card. The Flying Titans, meanwhile, slipped to a 1-2 record.

Trisha Tubu came alive in the final frame, unleashing a cross-court kill from the opposite before acing her serve to give Farm Fresh a crucial 21-17 cushion over perennial contender Choco Mucho.

Jolina Dela Cruz then caught Choco Mucho's defense napping on her off-speed attack, sending Farm Fresh to a 22-18 cushion.

But Choco Mucho staged a mighty comeback with the rookie-veteran tandem of Ayesha Juegos and Des Cheng fueling a huge 5-0 run, which was capped by a block from another rookie Jen Villegas against Caitlyn Viray, as the Flying Titans zoomed to a 23-22 lead.

Viray, though, was quick to atone for it as the lefty opposite hitter punished her old team and destroyed the wall off Deanna Wong and Villegas to bring her current team to match point, 24-23.

Villegas would force another deadlock at 24-all on a quick play, but Viray responded with another hammer before Lorene Toring and Tubu conspired to reject a hit from Mean Mendres.

Tubu top-scored with 22 points laced with nine digs while Dela Cruz and Viray chipped in 16 and 10 markers apiece.

Isa Molde and Cheng formed a one-two punch for Choco Mucho in the loss with the former collecting 13 points and the latter grabbing 10 markers together 13 digs and nine receptions.
