Why Steven Rotter is not part of the final Alas Pilipinas lineup for FIVB Men’s Championship

Steven Rotter of Alas Pilipinas

Steven Rotter was one of the notable names scratched from the final roster of Alas Pilipinas Men for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship.

According to the Filipino-American opposite, ‘technical’ issues were found which disqualified him from playing for the national team in the World Championship.

“I'm still associated with USA Volleyball, so I have to change federations, and have to get that done soon so I can play in the SEA Games,” Rotter said on Friday ahead of the opening match between the Philippines and Tunisia.

“But, people thought I got cut, it's not that. It's just technical things.”

Rotter has been playing with the national team since 2023.

However, since this is the first time that the Philippines joined the World Championships, players’ eligibility was strictly checked.

Rotter, though, remains optimistic about his chances to suit up in the Southeast Asian Games.

“It's just resources I have that hopefully I can expedite fast enough so I can play in the SEA Games. It's a big what-if, but I'm very optimistic and very positive, even though right now it's kind of a bad feeling. But, it is what it is.”
