ZUS off to 2-0 start in PVL Reinforced Conference after blanking Galeries

PVL: Zus Coffee Thunderbelles volleyball

Red-hot ZUS Coffee made quick work of Galeries with a dominant 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 win in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Thunderbelles, who had to survive Chery Tiggo in four sets last Saturday, made sure there's no extension this time as they improved to a crucial 2-0 start in Pool B while the Highrisers dropped to 0-2.

Middle blocker Thea Gagate unleashed a quick kill that sent ZUS to a 12-6 lead in the third set, but Galeries banked on setter and national team member Julia Coronel, whose three points fueled a 5-0 run that cut the gap to a one point, 12-11.

But ZUS stayed locked in with AC Miner serving an ace for an 18-14 cushion before a miscommunication from the side of Galeries allowed the wards of ZUS head coach Jerry Yee to take a much-needed 21-15 advantage.

Lefty opposite hitter Kate Santiago then went for the cross on her opposite hammer while Gagate made another fireball at the middle to bring ZUS to a 23-16 lead.

Mycah Go clinched the match point on an ace as Galeries' import Jelena Cvijovic went wide on her final attack, allowing ZUS to complete the sweep.

ZUS reinforcement Anna DeBeer led the charge with 18 points anchored on 15 attacks, two aces, and one block together with five receptions while Miner chipped in 10 markers.

Cvijovic was the lone player from Galeries who breached the double-digit scoring as she poured 11 points laced with nie receptions as they remained winless in the import-laden tournament.
