UAAP S88 women’s volleyball: Shevana Laput of La Salle

De La Salle University will look to defend its crown next year with its core expected to remain intact after four senior players revealed their plans to return for one more season.

Shevana Laput, Angel Canino, Amie Provido, and Lyka De Leon are set to run it back with the Lady Spikers for UAAP Season 89 as La Salle aims to further cement its legacy in the women's volleyball competition.

Laput and the rest of the 'Batch 122' bared their decision during a courtesy call to DLSU president Br. Bernard Oca FSC on Tuesday at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall, as reported by Ang Pahayagang Plaridel.

"We wish to continue the legacy and we want to stay for one more year," Laput said.

Laput, Canino, Provido, and De Leon all played huge role in bringing the crown back to Taft. Together, they dethroned three-peat seeking National University and completed a historic 16-0 championship sweep in Season 88 in returning La Salle's lost glory.

Following their title-clinching Game 2 victory last Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the quartet revealed that they have yet to finalize their decisions, prompting none of them to take the customary spot at the center of the traditional Archer Stance.

Now it's official, La Salle is poised to remain a powerhouse next season with rising stars Eshana Nunag, Shane Reterta, and Lilay Del Castillo expected to bolster the returning seniors in their bid to retain the title.
