Alyssa Valdez on Alas Pilipinas duties: 'I will never get tired of representing the country'
Veteran volleyball star Alyssa Valdez is back on national team duty with Alas Pilipinas, although it has yet to be confirmed whether she will be included in the lineup for the AVC Women’s Cup.
Valdez reportedly trained with the national team pool on Tuesday.
Asked about her return, the longtime national team standout kept her response short.
“I will never get tired of representing the country,” Valdez said on the sidelines of Allianz’s thanksgiving event for Rebisco teams Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Criss Cross.
“Hopefully, hopefully, makatulong tayo in our own little ways,” she added, noting that she also has limited information regarding other details about the national team.

Valdez has represented the Philippines since 2008, when she first joined the girls’ national team. Her most recent stint with the national squad came during the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.
The reported training pool also includes collegiate standouts from the UAAP and NCAA — a development Valdez welcomed.
“For me, napakasaya to be surrounded by young talented girls and hopefully dumami pa rin and magtulungan tayo to support these girls,” she said.
Alas Pilipinas players such as Angel Canino and Amie Provido declined the invitation to join the national team, citing the need to recover following the recently concluded UAAP season. Several other players were also reported to have turned down the invitation.
The AVC Women’s Cup is scheduled to take place in Candon City from June 6 to 14.
