Vets Alyssa Valdez, Ara Galang headline 14-woman Alas Women squad for AVC Cup
Battle-tested Alyssa Valdez is set to spearhead the Alas Pilipinas Women when they see action in the 2026 AVC Cup, which fires off on Saturday at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
Valdez has been named to the final 14-woman lineup that will represent the country in its hosting of the tournament.
Joining her on the roster are fellow veterans Ara Galang, Ces Molina, Tots Carlos, Royse Tubino, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Kyle Negrito, Alyssa Eroa, and Kyla Atienza with Shaw Delos Santos serving as the interim head coach in place of Tai Bundit.
Rounding out the lineup are Thea Gagate, Niña Ytang, Cla Loresco, Alyssa Solomon, and Tin Ubaldo.
Alas is bunched in Pool A with Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Australia, and Uzbekistan. The Filipinas will kick off their campaign on Saturday against Uzbekistan at 3 p.m.
