Alas Pilipinas dominates Uzbekistan to open AVC Women's Cup campaign

Alas Pilipinas cruised past Uzbekistan, 25-16, 25-12, 25-14, to open its AVC Women’s Cup campaign on a dominant note on Saturday in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

Veteran star Alyssa Valdez led the Filipinas with 14 points, while Jov Gonzaga and Nina Ytang chipped in 12 points each as the hosts wrapped up the straight-sets victory in less than 90 minutes.

Malikakhon Tursunpulatova was the lone double digit scorer for Uzbekistan, finishing with 10 points.

The Philippines will next take on Australia on Sunday.
