Days after an explosion rocked a public market in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, authorities tightened security in some areas in the province, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday.

In Tacurong City, security was tight around the Nuestro Señora dela Candelaria church.

Aside from police officers and military soldiers, an armed personnel carrier was also spotted in the area.

Residents were advised to take the necessary precautions and avoid going to crowded places.

At least seven people were injured after a loud blast occurred at Isulan Public Market on Saturday morning.

Authorities believe the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device placed beside a parked motorcycle.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac on Monday said authorities are not yet discounting the possibility that the explosion was a terror attack.

At a press conference, Banac said investigation is still ongoing.

However, as of this time, Banac said it seems extortion was the motive of the incident. —KG, GMA News
