Caloocan, DFA roll out ‘Mobile E-Passport Service’
MANILA, Philippines - To further serve overseas Filipinos workers (OFWs) residing in the city, the Caloocan local government and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will be launching its âMobile E-Passport Service" (MEPS) on February 2 Caloocan Mayor Enrico âRecom" Echiverri said that MEPS is an outreach program of the DFA, which seeks to facilitate and expedite the processing of passport applications of residents in a particular locality. He also said that MEPS also aims to reduce the expenses incurred by passport applicants by going directly to their respective home towns or cities instead of the other way around. Echiverri said that this project is one of the many that will commemorate the 47th founding anniversary of the city this coming February 16. Caloocan residents interested to avail themselves of MEPS are instructed to go into Civil Registry Department (CRD) at the Caloocan city hall complex on A. Mabini Street corner 10th Avenue or at its extension office in Zapote Road. âOur CRD will also provide the necessary assistance to our residents who are applying for a passport," Echiverri further added. The MEPS application period will last until February 27. Persons whose passport applications are granted will have to return to the Caloocan city hall main office for final evaluation and payment. Echiverri also said that passports of successful applicants will be released on the same venue on March 14. The Caloocan mayor added that city residents can call telephone numbers 324-5126 and 288-8811 local 2249 for additional details. - GMANews.TV
